Published: 3 December 2009

Microsoft has announced pay-as-you-go and contract payment models for its November launch of the Windows Azure cloud computing service, which includes a cloud services OS, a web-based relational database in Microsoft SQL Azure, and connectivity and interoperability with .NET Services.

Prices for contracts are yet to be announced, but for PAYG “compute time” is measured in machine hours that are billed only when your application is deployed, at the rate of $0.12 per hour. Storage is 15 cents per GB stored per month, and bandwidth at $0.10 inbound and $0.15 outbound per GB.
